Adam F Lopez

Senior Software Engineer · Full Stack Developer · Web Developer

Introduction

I'm Adam Lopez, a Senior Software Engineer and Full Stack Developer based in Florida. Over the past decade I've worked across healthcare technology, real estate, e-commerce, pet supply logistics, and telecommunications — building web applications that have to hold up for real people, not just pass a demo. These days I split my time between shipping features in Laravel and PHP and building the tooling that makes a team faster — CI/CD pipelines, dev environment automation, and the small internal tools that never make it onto a portfolio but save everyone real time.

I didn't start in tech. I spent a decade in retail management at Publix Super Markets before deciding to make a change — I wanted to keep growing my career without relocating my family or waiting years for the next opening, so I left, used some of my retirement stock to fund the leap, and enrolled in Ironhack's full-stack coding bootcamp in Miami as part of one of its first cohorts. The program was Ruby on Rails-focused, but the Tampa job market wanted PHP, so I taught myself PHP and MySQL and pivoted — the real lesson from that bootcamp wasn't a specific language, it was how to pick up a new stack quickly when the business need calls for it, which is a skill I still lean on today.

Summary

My background runs deep on the PHP/Laravel side, but I move comfortably across the stack — React, Angular, and Vue on the front end, MySQL and REST/GraphQL APIs underneath, Docker-based environments end to end. What ties it together is a focus on maintainability: I'd rather ship code a teammate can extend six months from now than a clever one-off, and that shows up in how I test, document, and structure everything I build. A few specifics from that experience:

  • As a Senior Software Engineer, I bring a wealth of expertise in solving complex business problems through a diverse range of methodologies.
  • My focus on product-centered development enables me to create easily understandable and reusable code components, streamlining the development process and ensuring long-term maintainability.
  • I excel in analyzing, documenting, and implementing functional enhancements to features and projects, leveraging the latest software technologies to stay at the forefront of innovation.
  • With a strong emphasis on user experience, I continuously seek ways to optimize and enhance interactions with the application/site, ultimately increasing user engagement and satisfaction.
  • My proficiency extends to crafting comprehensive coding tests, meticulously validating methods and classes to ensure a seamless transition of features to the production environment.
  • As a subject matter expert in front-end development, I possess an in-depth understanding of technical concepts, enabling me to drive architectural decisions and provide valuable insights to the Agile team.
  • My solid background in this field empowers me to deliver high-quality, robust solutions and facilitate code reviews, fostering a culture of technical excellence within the organization.
  • I am dedicated to pushing the boundaries of software engineering, consistently delivering innovative, reliable, and user-centric solutions that positively impact both the company and its valued customers.

Projects

Pool Queue

A Laravel app for running a pool/billiards game night: players join a queue, get matched into games, track turns and scores in real time, and see standings on a leaderboard. Built with no Node/Vite build step (plain committed CSS) for straightforward cPanel deployment.

Laravel 13, PHP, MySQL
